Its the little surprises on twitter that make a big difference

Its the little things that matter, the unexpected things that count and that last in your mind and this is some thing I wont forget in a hurry.  Having spoke to Susan Cooper from Buzz Edition on twitter on many occasions, some time had passed since we last had the opportunity to have a chat or help each other out.

However that doesn’t stop twitter working its magic and having seen a request tweeted from Susan (@buzzedition) to help her find an interview of an artist Lou D Philips, (@loudphilips). Heres what Susan said originally.

“Can anyone recall the interview done with @LouDPhillips that showcased his painting? Even Lou himself can’t find it and I want it!”

What happened Next

I took a few seconds to do a quick search and see if I could find what she wanted and I think I found the wrong Lou D Phillips and I sent her the wrong interview.  That didn’t matter.  The thought was appreciated and it was to my complete surprise that I got tweet a few minutes later from Susan saying:

” #MeetSomeoneNew BTW this is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet on twitter … meet my dear friend —-> @justinparks ”

That tweet went out to a staggering 64,000 people who follow Buzz Edition and its probably the nicest thing anyone has said to me on twitter.

The little things

This wasn’t expected or asked for and this, I guess, added to the significance of this small but important gesture for me. Its good to remember that its the little things that matter as they can mean big things when given freely.

I didn’t know what to make of Justin when I walked in their offices for the first time, nice enough guy confident etc, but if you’ve been here in Spain long enough you know how first impressions can quickly be expensive and disappointing.

I explained my reservations to Justin and and that his quote was high. He explained that if that’s the way I feel but I can leave and go elsewhere with no hard feelings. But to remember that I´ll still want that web presence no matter what and be just as suspicious talking to the next firm, then the next and the next.

So he said why not save time write a cheque to 123 Marbella right now, put a bit of trust in us, and once we´ve taken your money and disappointed you in the highest possible way, with a hopeless effort of a web site, then at least we´ll have fulfilled your expectations and you ll be able to put the horrible experience behind you and move on to the next web company!

I thought, he does make a point doesn’t he? ok why not? and handed over a cheque.

I´m grateful to Justin now because he and Craig have done a great site that so far that has produced results and both Craig and Justin are still just as obtainable by phone and generous with their time long after they were paid.
