Last.fm buttons, icons and badges for Social Media

Posted by: Justin Parks In: Social Media| Social Networking

If your into social media and music and your NOT using www.Last.fm, then your missing out!

Last.fm is a UK-based Internet radio and music community website, founded in 2002. It claims over 30 million active users based in more than 200 countries.

Using a music recommender system called “Audioscrobbler”, Last.fm builds a detailed profile of each user’s musical taste by recording details of all the songs the user listens to, either on the streamed radio stations, or the user’s computer or many portable music devices. This information is transferred to Last.fm’s database (“scrobbled”) via a plugin installed into the user’s music player. The profile data is then displayed on the user’s profile page. The site offers numerous social networking features and can recommend and play artists similar to the user’s favourites.

Users can create custom radio stations and playlists from any of the audio tracks in Last.fm’s music library, and are able to listen to some individual tracks on demand, or download tracks if the rights holder has previously authorised it. Rockin!

  • Hey Justin,
Could you tell me how to add Lastfm button to our blog? I'm confused. :s
The setting on my blog is:
    <! Last.fm !>
    <!--<div class="button" id="button-last"></div>---!>

I inserted my lastfm profile address but it doesn't work. I was hoping you could help me out.
    Thanks :D

If you're logged into your tumblr blog, visit the page and click the "Customize" button in the top right. Under "Info," click on "Description" and you'll be able to insert some HTML into a text field -- where it appears depends on which template you use.
  • Thanks for the info, Justin and Josh! :))
Turns out I've to remove these symbols:
    <--! !--->

And boom the buttons are on. :D
  • Cheers for that Josh, much appreciated! Hope that helps you Sadeethya.
  • Hi Sadeethya. I see your using tumblr to run your blog, and to be honest im not sure how you could add the icon and link unless there is an option in the dashboard of the site to do this.

Most of these icons will be used on self hosted (paid) blogs I guess as the free blogging systems like tumbr are quite limited in what you can achieve out side the given options. Maybe someone whos more familiar with tumblr can advise?
